Cydney’s Sinuses

Cyd

Let me preempt this story by telling you that Cyd is 7 years old and has pretty much always had some type of (what I thought was seizures), to the point her little tongue has turned black. I give her CBD liquid and do a little breathing into her nose. Then it subsides till the next time. I’ve recently come to believe that it is caused by sinuses. Post nasal drip. Although over much time I’ve given her things like Benedryl and Clortimtron.(antihistamines). Though vet approved, these did not work.

Here in Georgia, it’s Pollen Season, it’s TERRIBLE Season. I’m not sure if this is what’s causing Cyd to have more issues than usual but it’s got the Doc’s a little speech less.

Three weeks ago I took Cyd to our general, maintenance Vet. Let’s call her Dr. R. She had a gag type cough at the time, which she’s gotten periodically over the past few years. She gets come meds and along with some prednisone help, it clears up in a few days. However, this time it did not.

After $108 vet bill and virtually NO results, Dr. R recommends chest & nasal ex-rays. WHAT!, No chest congestion. If you are a dog owner you know these ex-rays run approximately $250 each. (I did not do that).

So, I call our regular, long time vet, who isn’t in often, just 2 half days a week. Let’s call him Dr. W. We have a phone conversation and he prescribes 2 weeks of antibiotic liquid and an antihistamine with some steroids in it. And even I am thinking this should do the trick. Unfortunately, it did not. Didn’t even touch it.

Friday we go into Dr. W’s office for Cyd to be seen. We review and I show him a video to listen to, since he’d asked for one. It’s not a severe one just a little sound. Cyd has been sounding like a baby pig when trying to sleep at night. I can here the congestion in her nose. This coming from someone who has had bad sinus infections practically all of my adult life, (until I began drinking my Kangen water 4.5 years ago, and it all cleared up), I think I know a little about the sinus cavity or sinus track.

Well, Dr. W prescribed her a cough pill, because just that morning, Cyd began coughing again. Thus far this pill has worked for the cough. However, the new antihistamine prescribed, has not yet worked. I’ve even added Claritan Gels, which Dudley used to take for his tremendous sneezing fits.

I wanted to share this tonight, for all you dog lovers. I believe in having more than one Vet for your baby dogs. I believe in going with your gut feeling as well as you own knowledge. Stop and think. Don’t just jump with the first Doctors opinion. That can apply to our own health issues as humans, as well.

With office visits and doctor visits for Cyd. . ., Dr. R. Charged $108 for visit and one prescription that did not work. . . , Dr. W. Gave 2 prescriptions and office visit for under $80.

Not only a visit that makes more sense, more logical, was cheaper but he never even entertained the idea of ex-rays to the tune of $500.

But I will tell you this, Dr. R. has mis diagnosed my dogs more than once and always leaps to the ex-ray side. No wonder I only (usually), use her for Nail trims and anal glands.

I would say the first thing on my list of what gets me excited are my baby dogs and the love we share. The second thing is Natural Health & Wellness (we'll get into that later). So combine those two things and you see that I'm also aware of products that I allow my babies to have or not, and how often. I'm a mature, christian, single, business lady. I love helping folks and love helping their dogs too, for sure. I'm all about hugs and that's not just from humans. I hug my baby dogs every morning and every evening. Kisses too for them. Doggies are God's little angels, sent to us as a gift and a constant reminder that the way a dog loves us is exactly how he loves us. Our flaws and all. I have always loved my dogs(the most, so I thought), but as I age, I love them more and more and make a point to show them that I do and always will. My whole heart and soul go into my babies. Nothing like the love of a Dachshund (and a Chihuahua raised with Dachshunds). Smile and make it a tail-wagging day.
