Owner Beware!

Previously I wrote about Dutton’s recent experience with stomach issues and I mentioned that when he was brought home from meeting with the breeder that the vet thought he may be blind. I mentioned a shot that some breeders use that can cause these detrimental effects.

“Ivermectin”, to be used on Hearding Breed type dogs, ONLY. This drug is used for the purposes of riding of infections caused by parasites, worms and such. This drug is also found in Heart worm prevention. If it is used to much or excessively it can cause toxicity which passes directly to the brain.

Please do your on research. I’m not a licensed doctor, pharmacist or veterinarian. I’m just passing on a BIG concern for when we/you purchase a dog from a breeder.

Beware! Ask questions. Ask to see the items in which the breeder has used on the puppy. Look at and examine the ingredients. I never knew this existed. But now you all do. Be cautious and love that baby anyway. Always immediately take your new puppy to a licensed, veterinarian for a Full Exam.

Here’s a list of the side effects, symptoms, this drug can cause in your dog, your new puppy if they have “Ivermectin” toxicity. (Remember, some items can be permanent and life altering. Dutton had or still has 5 of the following symptoms.

  • Lethargy, Depression, Drooling, Vomiting, Dilated pupils, Loss of appetite, Disorientation, Tremors/Seizures, Blindness, Trouble standing, Slow heartbeat, Difficulty breathing, Coma.

I would say the first thing on my list of what gets me excited are my baby dogs and the love we share. The second thing is Natural Health & Wellness (we'll get into that later). So combine those two things and you see that I'm also aware of products that I allow my babies to have or not, and how often. I'm a mature, christian, single, business lady. I love helping folks and love helping their dogs too, for sure. I'm all about hugs and that's not just from humans. I hug my baby dogs every morning and every evening. Kisses too for them. Doggies are God's little angels, sent to us as a gift and a constant reminder that the way a dog loves us is exactly how he loves us. Our flaws and all. I have always loved my dogs(the most, so I thought), but as I age, I love them more and more and make a point to show them that I do and always will. My whole heart and soul go into my babies. Nothing like the love of a Dachshund (and a Chihuahua raised with Dachshunds). Smile and make it a tail-wagging day.
